Who Is Eligible?

Overview

Veterans with service-connected disabilities including loss of limbs, blindness, or severe burns

Age

Veterans with permanent service-connected disabilities affecting mobility, vision, or upper extremities may qualify regardless of age

Income

No specific income or homeownership requirement; applicant or family member must own or plan to own the property

Veteran Status

Service-connected disabilities eligible for SAH include loss of use of lower extremities, bilateral blindness with 20/200 vision or less, or specific lower extremity loss after September 2001

What’s Covered

Modifications covered include home accessibility features such as ramping, widening doorways, bathroom adaptations, and kitchen modifications to facilitate independent living

Veteran Status

Grant can be used up to 6 times over a veteran's lifetime
