Michigan requires a Residential Builder or Maintenance and Alteration Contractor license for residential projects valued at $600 or more (material + labor), administered by the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA), Bureau of Construction Codes. 60 hours of approved prelicensure education have been required since June 2008.
